Terms and Conditions of Riding

Please read this document carefully and sign at the end.
It’s designed to keep riders, parents, and our ponies safe.

1. Acknowledgement of Risk

☐ I understand that riding and being around horses carries inherent risks.
☐ I accept that I/my child may fall off and could be injured.
☐ I accept that Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre (WSPC) cannot be held responsible for any personal injury sustained while riding, handling, or being around horses.

2. Safety and Instruction

☐ I agree to follow all instructions given by WSPC staff for safety reasons.
☐ I/my child will always wear a correctly fitted riding hat that meets current safety standards.
☐ I understand that wearing a body protector is optional but recommended.
☐ I agree to use any additional safety equipment requested by WSPC staff.

3. Rider Information and Medical Disclosure

☐ I agree to provide full and accurate details about my/my child’s:

• Riding experience and ability

• Previous riding accidents (if any)

• Medical conditions or disabilities affecting riding or handling horses

☐ I understand that WSPC will make safety decisions based on this information.

4. Supervision of Children

☐ I understand that children are at particular risk around horses.
☐ I agree to supervise my child when they are not in a lesson or supervised activity.
☐ I agree to remain on site while my child is taking part in any session or activity.

5. Riding Assessment and Instruction

☐ I understand that a riding assessment may be required before joining regular lessons.
☐ I accept the instructor’s decision on whether it is safe for me/my child to ride; their decision is final.
☐ I understand that WSPC may change instructors or lesson times without notice.

6. Lesson Cancellations and Credits

☐ I understand that WSPC may cancel lessons for safety, welfare, or operational reasons (e.g. severe weather).
☐ I understand that, where possible, WSPC will notify clients of cancellations.
☐ If WSPC cancels a lesson, a credit will be applied to the following term’s invoice.

7. General Conditions

☐ I agree to treat all staff, volunteers, and animals with respect.
☐ I understand that WSPC may refuse riding to anyone acting in an unsafe or disrespectful way.
☐ I understand that WSPC is not responsible for loss or damage to personal property.

Disclaimer

I understand and agree that I/my child ride(s) entirely at my/our own risk, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
I confirm that I have read and understood these Terms and Conditions of Riding and acknowledge the inherent risks associated with horses and equestrian activities.
